Traditional aromatherapy uses:
- Traditionally in aromatherapy treatments sweet orange essential oil is associated with the following therapeutic properties: antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, bactericidal, carminative, choleretic, digestive, fungicidal, hypotensive, sedative to nervous system, stimulant to digestive and lymphatic systems, stomachic, tonic.
Qualified aromatherapists may use sweet orange essential oil for common complaints such as:
- skin conditions: suits all skin types, dry and prone to acne
- lymphatic system: stimulates healthy fluid circulation and reducing water retention
- digestive issues: constipation, chronic diarrhoea, stimulation of bile production, nausea
- emotional support – great for relaxation, uplifting, can be used to help children sleep
Other common name: often simply referred to as ‘orange’ but it must not be mistaken for ‘bitter orange’.
