Latin Name:  Eucalyptus globulus
Part of Plant: Leaf
Country of Origin: Australia
Method of Production: Steam Distillation

Eucalyptus globulus, also known as Eucalyptus, Blue Gum, or Tasmanian Blue Gum, is a member of the Myrtaceae botanical family.  It is a large evergreen tree that is indigenous to Australia, and is one of the most common of several hundred species of Eucalyptus.  Also, as a water loving tree that does well in moist soils, it is often planted to help dry up swampy areas.  Historically, the leaves have been used as a household remedy for respiratory complaints.

Eucalyptus essential oil, having a fresh, invigorating, and cineolic aroma, is commonly blended with oils like Peppermint and Rosemary and is perfect for those days when you just do not feel like getting out of bed.  It may assist with the appearance of skin when properly diluted and applied topically.  It is also ideal when used in a blend that is properly diluted in a lotion or massage oils, for a soothing massage after a long workout.

 Usage ideas:

  • Add a few drops of essential oils to a diffuser, cotton round, or a tissue.

  • Dilute to 1% in your choice of carrier oils to make a face serum or body oil.  Apply a small amount to damp skin after washing to help seal in moisture.

  • Add 5-15 drops to 1 oz. of your choice of carrier oils to make a massage oil.

  • Mix a few drops with an unscented liquid soap or bubble bath and add to the tub when filling.

For convenience on the go…

  • Properly dilute with your choice of carrier oils in a roller bottle.

  • Add up to a total of 15 drops of essential oils to a personal aromatic inhaler (aroma stick).
